Counter Couture

“Counter Couture” was an exhibition of clothes and wearable art celebrating the handmade fashion and style of the 1960s and 1970s. The exhibition, originally shown at the Bellevue Arts Museum outside Seattle in 2015, moved to New York City two years later. A patchwork outfit that Barbara slowly put together over several years in the early 70s, was shown, along with such items as Wavy Gravy’s jumpsuit, a Jimi Hendrix shirt, and astonishing items of crochet, beadwork, embroidery, and more.
